Customised Labour and Birth Education Packages

All of our antenatal sessions are conducted in the comfort of your own home. Our educator Alison Gregory is a highly experienced, qualified Midwife and Parenting Educator for more than 20 years. The information is given verbally, written handouts, by demonstration, video’s, props, all to empower woman and their support team to feel completely prepared for the journey ahead. You will feel confident, more relaxed and understand your choices based on your medical circumstances. You can then be part of the decision making process which helps create a positive birth experience. We offer short or long sessions based on your need. You can choose a private in-home session with just you and your partner or consider doing a session with another friend or family member that’s pregnant. The choice is yours.

This course is extremely popular and perfect for the busy couple. The package is personally tailored, to give information that pertains to your situation with medical history, personal preference all being considered. This is a wonderful option for those who have lots of personal questions and are keen not to waste time hearing information that does not relate to them. It is conducted in the comfort of your home at a time that is mutually convenient. There are a number of items brought to help you visually prepare for the journey ahead. This is our most popular session for couples preparing for labour and parenting. Please book as early as possible, so you can get the date you want.

Course Outline

Unit 1: Understanding the stages of labour.

Unit 2: Natural ways to cope at home in early labour. When to go to hospital.

Unit 3: Informed choices for Natural and Medicated Pain relief.

Unit 4: Roles and function of the support people.

Unit 5: Hormones of labour and working with your body.

Unit 6: Unexpected outcomes and emergency caesarean section.

Unit 7: Baby feeding (Breast or Bottle) patterns and nutritional needs for the first 6 weeks.

Unit 8: Normal characteristics of the newborn

Unit 9: Hospital tests for Mum and Baby

Unit 10: Post-natal wrapping, sleep patterns, bathing, settling your new baby.

Unit 11: Observing the nursery, preparing a sanctuary for sleep.

We can also assist expectant parents on what essential items to purchase for a new baby without falling into the trap of buying gimmick items that you may never use.

A travel charge is added if out of 30 km catchment, and tolls charged to the client. Please allow for Weekend surcharge. A $50 surcharge will apply for sessions conducted on weekends.

Elective Caesarian class (Private in-Home)
(Duration 3.5 hours) $360*

*$50 surcharge for weekends

You may be booked for an elective caesarian due to medical or personal reasons. This session is tailor made for you, so you don’t need to sit through the generic labour information that doesn’t relate to your situation. We will guide you through the process so that you feel confident and prepared for the operation, hospital stay and recovery.

Course outline

Unit 1:  Preparation for elective caesarian section, informed choices for anaesthetic.

Unit 2: When to go to hospital for unexpected outcomes.

Unit 3: What to expect on the day of delivery, and during your hospital stay.

Unit 4: Roles and function of the support people.

Unit 5: Ways to assist your recovery.

Unit 6: Baby feeding (Breast or Bottle) patterns and nutritional needs for the first 6 weeks.

Unit 7: Normal characteristics of the newborn and when to seek medical assistance.

Unit 8: Post-natal wrapping, settling, dressing, changing nappies, and bathing.

Unit 9: Time management with a new baby, relationship roles and preparation for parenting.

A travel charge is added if out of 30 km catchment, and tolls charged to the client. Please allow for Weekend surcharges. A $50 surcharge will apply for sessions conducted on weekends.

Small Group sessions (Limited to 2-3 couples)
(Duration 4 hours) $360 per couple

This class is great for those who would like to enjoy the journey with others. The sessions are information loaded, with fun interaction and plenty of opportunity to ask questions. There are medical supplies for demonstration, props of many descriptions and videos for your viewing pleasure. They are capped at a maximum of 2-3 couples. You choose the friends and location.

Unit 1: Understanding the stages and mechanics of labour.

Unit 2: Natural ways to cope at home in early labour. When to go to hospital and for what reason you would call an ambulance.

Unit 3: Natural and Medicated Pain relief options.

Unit 4: Support people’s role and function. Including, how to massage to create effective relief during pregnancy and labour.

Part 2

Unit 5: Understanding unexpected outcomes/complications of labour/birth and what to do if they arise, including a look at caesarean section.

Unit 6: Normal characteristics of the newborn

Unit 7: Hospital tests for Mum and Baby

Unit 8: Baby feeding (Breast or Bottle) patterns and nutritional needs for the first 6 weeks.

Unit 9: Post-natal wrapping, nappy changing, dressing for climate, SIDS, bathing, and the best settling techniques to promote sleep.

Unit 10: Time management with a new baby and what to expect.

Request dates for this option, weekends and evenings available. A travel charge is added if out of 30 km catchment, and tolls charged to the client. Please allow for a single $50 charge for weekend bookings.
